Tony and Jill Curtis
Bellagio Hotel, Las Vegas, NV The picture above was taken the night my husband and I had dinner with Tony and Jill. This is an experience I must share with all of you fans, because not only was I overwhelmed by the idea, I was totally at ease after meeting Jill and seeing Tony again. The idea we have that celebrities are bigger than life is true. But when meeting Tony you quickly learn that he is so much more than an actor, or artist. Tony is a wonderful man, and I hope with my stories you will learn that for yourself. The night was November 30, 2001. The dinner invitation came from Jill, and we were so excited to have this opportunity to meet her, and dine with them both. They took us to one of their favorite restaurants and we met just outside where the photo above is taken. After our introductions, we went in to the bar and visited for a while. This is when I discovered that Jill is every bit as sweet and wonderful as I knew she would be. She sparkles not only from her stunning outfit, but from a beauty within. She is exciting because she is excited about life. I liked her from the moment we met! Tony was so handsome in his favorite coat. It's rather hard to tell in the photo because the coat is black, but it reaches about thigh level. It is tailor made to fit him, and gave him the star quality that one would expect from a star of his stature. The hat was a hot topic at the bar, and even tried on by one of the bar tenders. I was impressed by this couple not because of who they are, but because of the love that flows back and forth between them. You can actually feel it in the looks they exchange, the gentle touch of a hand, a smile, or just a laugh. Jill said that one of the things she loves most about Tony is his ability to make her laugh. It is incredible to be around two people who genuinely love each other this way. Tony also gave his favorite employees, (and us!) an invitation to his upcoming art show opening ceremony reception, and was gracious in signing autographs for those who asked. Tony is very approachable, and loves his fans so much. He appreciates the attention, and gives so much of himself to the fans. Not all stars are this way, Cary Grant for instance, hid from fans a lot of the time, and preferred not to give out autographs unless he had to. Although Tony admires Cary very much, I'm happy he didn't take his cue from him! We were escorted to our table, which overlooked the dancing waters. It was an exciting view, and our hosts were wonderful. I talked all through my soup, and before I knew it dinner had arrived. It was such fun learning about Jill, and I had so many questions. Tony seemed to sense my need to get to know Jill better, and encouraged us to visit. My husband, Moni had a great time talking with Tony and Jill too. He was very surprised and delighted by the whole evening. Tony and Jill were given the respect that is due them. Called only Mr. Curtis and Mrs. Curtis, although the tone was always friendly. They are well known at Prime, and this may be why the level of comfort was so warm. As we ate dinner, the conversations continued. I learned more about Tony's upcoming play, Some Like It Hot, The Musical. There will soon be a whole section devoted to this play, with a complete itinerary of events, locations and times. Please check the main page for updates! As the four of us chatted over dinner, I decided that if Tony had never been a famous man, had never appeared on the screen, or done anything important, he would still be at the top of my list as a man I'd like to know. I would choose Jill as a friend because she is so sweet, kind and likeable. This is what I want you all to know. You would love to sit and talk to this couple, and take it from me, it was a night I'll never forget! There will be new sections added to this site on a regular basis. I am going to be working with Tony and Jill during the ten months they are on the road with Some Like It Hot, The Musical. In doing so, I can keep all of his fans updated, and you will enjoy seeing photos that Jill will send in just for you! This is a very exciting project for me. Another thing you can look forward to, is a photo shoot I will do with Tony and Jill, and all their wonderful dogs and cats. You will see them in their home, in a very candid way. They would like for the fans to see them as they are at home, and I am going to do my best to give them that, and share it all with you. It will almost be like you are invited into their home, and will see the wonderful home they built together, along with Tony's extensive antique collection. You may see some of their cars, pool or the view of the city. I'll take as many as I can, and will share them here on this web site. As the evening drew to a close, Tony handed me a piece of paper, on which he had drawn a sketch as we talked. see photo He then handed one to Moni, see photo and then surprised Jill with one for her. Each is unique and special. Jill was visibly moved, and on hers, (sorry, I don't have a copy to share) there was a hand, with the word TIME written by it. Priceless. These will be forever treasured by each of us! I'd like to say thank you to Tony and Jill for an extraordinary evening. You made Moni and I feel as though we were two very close trusted friends, and shared so much with us. We are looking forward to visiting again soon. With gratitude, love and respect, |
